Electrical demands are dynamic because of sheer variety within transportation. Because we control the entire manufacturing process, we’re able to develop battery lines around those differences. Every vehicle type from passenger vehicles to marine applications gets the starting, cycling, and auxiliary power they require.
Quality isn’t really determined until our products leave the plant. That’s where they earn their reputation. Truck batteries live a different life than a forklift battery. A battery installed in a switchgear may spend years waiting for a few critical minutes. Understanding those conditions is part of the precision at our core.

We’ve spent decades bringing engineering, material processing, manufacturing, and recycling into one closely connected operation; because problems can often be traced back to the process that caused them.
Our 520-acre Berks County campus brings together capabilities that many manufacturers depend on outside suppliers to provide. Lead refining, oxide production, plastic molding, battery manufacturing, technical centers, and recycling all operate within the same manufacturing system. Proximity matters, and this gives us direct visibility into many of the variables that determine product consistency.
Sure, the drawing board is exciting, but engineering doesn’t end there. Technical centers, a pilot plant, machine shops, and equipment developed on site means our teams test ideas against the realities of production long before those ideas have to perform at scale.
Manufacturing capacity doesn’t matter unless products can reach our customers reliably. We support every plant with a North American warehouse and distribution network, along with a company fleet that delivers new batteries and brings spent ones back for reclamation.
Everything began in 1946 when DeLight Breidegam Jr. and his father rebuilt used batteries in a one-room Pennsylvania creamery. Eight decades later, we’re still family owned and won’t stop investing in the people, equipment, and processes that determine what we make next.
